A-Team... A unique work experience!
The A-Team started out in our Affiliate as a group of retired guys with construction or handyman experience who enjoyed working together on the more challenging aspects of home building.
Over time, more people have joined the A-Team, and now we have both men and women. The only "requirement" for membership is that members work with the team every week when they are in town and not otherwise engaged. The group activity consists of comedy, good natured kidding and some occasional work. Actually this team consists of some dedicated workers who, in addition to performing good finish carpentry and interior work, TEACH new homeowners and new volunteers new skills.
Except during Collegiate Challenge, the A-Team usually works every Wednesday and Saturday from 8:30 until 3:00 pm. During Collegiate Challenge, A-Team members act as mentors for college students who give up their Spring breaks to build homes with us. The workday is split into morning and afternoon shifts. It runs from 8:00 to 4:30, Monday through Thursday with half an hour for lunch. Members can work as many or as few shifts or days as they wish, but everyone tries to schedule some time with the students. It's a great experience!
